About this blog
The image of Bharati on this blog is by the fine artist, our friend, Maniam Selvan. He gave me this picture to use on the cover of my Bharati Standard Edition. The cover of Volume 1, Desiya Githangal, featuring the picture of Bharati on a green background, appears here.
Bharati’s signature appears under the book cover, in both Tamil and English. Noteworthy in his English signature is the spelling of his name in English, “C. Subramania Bharati.” Bharati’s name is generally misspelled, but the correct version should be the usage adopted by the poet himself.
The four-line quotation at the top of the home page is from Bharati’s poem, “Thayumanavar Vazhtthu.” I quoted the first four lines of the poem, which I thought were relevant to Bharati himself, as an invocation.
Dear Dr.Vijaya Bharathi. I welcome this site. I live in the UK. I have an article by Ms.Meera Sundararajan on the Mahakavi, copyright snafus etc. in aTamil daily, in my archives. If there be a need, I shall scan and send it or give the publication details. I am an ardent fan of your venerable grandfather from 1941/42.
How do you think the WORLD will have access to Bharati?
